Joe Humbert Family Aquatic Center

Located in Yantis Park at the Corner of DeHaven Street and SW 2nd Ave, we provide aquatic recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities. Our facility is ADA-compliant and has zero-depth gradual entry access.

About 30 years ago, our citizens passed a general obligation bond to construct our current facility.  Construction began in the fall of 1995 and finished in the spring of 1996.  Our facility has a 25-meter 6-lane pool, a 3-story 170’ flume water slide, a bathhouse, a concession stand, a covered shelter, a sand volleyball court, and a kids' play area, to name a few!

Wastewater

Our Wastewater Treatment Facility is located at 640 County Road.  This location is off limits and entry is prohibited to customers and citizens.  Please check in at the Public Works Office if you have business pertaining to wastewater.

As with all our services, we aim to provide reliable services within our permitted parameters.  Our facilities are highly monitored and regulated in accordance with the rules and regulations as well as the employment of full-time staff that are certified through the Oregon DEQ to operate our system.

The City’s street revenues are primarily derived from gas tax collected by the State of Oregon and distributed on a per capital basis.

Water Department

Our City water system receives water from seven (7) city-owned deep basaltic wells. Water is pumped from our wells to one of three water storage reservoirs. From there, it enters the distribution system. We maintain approximately 39.5 miles of water distribution lines. Our system provides high-quality potable water sufficient for drinking, residential, commercial, and industrial customers, as well as meeting the fire protection needs of our community.

Starting a New Business

Planning on starting a business in Milton-Freewater?  The steps below will help guide you in the process.

Depending on your business, you may need additional permits, licenses, or inspections before opening your doors. Here are some helpful resources as you get started:

Economic Development

Milton-Freewater is located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains.  It is a thriving community that is surrounded by orchards, wheat fields and vineyards.  The recently designated Rocks District of Milton-Freewater American Viticultural Area (AVA) is considered one of the most unusual and distinctive grape-growing regions in the Pacific Northwest.  This is due to the cobblestones that are predominate in the district.  These stones it turns out, are perfect for growing wine grapes.
