Planning Commission

The planning commission consists of seven (7) members appointed by the city council. Six (6) members must reside within the city limits, however one member may be a resident outside the city limits but within the city's urban growth boundary.  The committee meets once a month, on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. with a study session at 6:30 p.m. in the Albee Room of the public library.

City Council

The City of Milton-Freewater governing body is a 7 member City Council and Mayor. Three council members are elected by their respected wards and three are elected at large. The mayor is elected by city wide popular vote and represents the City government at official functions, chairs meetings of the Council and in the event of a council tie, votes to break the tie. Council meets on the 2nd Monday at 7 p.m in the Council Chambers, located in the Albee Room of the City Library, 8 S.W. 8th Avenue.  Day to day operations of the City are directed by City Manager Chad Morris.

Our mission is to serve the citizens of Milton-Freewater by providing leadership and support for the management of the City’s financial affairs in an efficient, responsive, professional manner from the finance department team.

City Standing Committees include Recreation, Planning Commission, Budget Committee, and Library Board.  Members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
